Saint Apollinaris

Following the example of Piazza San Marco in Venice, in 1483 two columns were placed on the square. On one was placed the lion of Saint Mark; on the other, the statue of the patron Saint Apollinaris. San Apolinar was the first bishop and martyr of the city of Rávena and is its patron saint.
