Theodora's head and shoulders are covered in emeralds and pearls. She is wearing a chlamys, a costume only worn by men and empresses, and on the lower part of it we can see the Three Magi. The man on the left, posibly a eunuch, appears to be opening a curtain for his mistress. The other man in the scene is a court official.
