The Fontana Veccia, still in use in via Ugo Bassi, along the external wall of the Salaborsa Library, was commissioned in 1563 by Pope Pius IV to the Palermo sculptor and architect Tommaso Laureti, for the utility and decoration of the city of Bologna.
