Ethiopia 2014

In a mountainous region in the heart of Ethiopia, eleven medieval monolithic churches were carved out of the rock. They are attributed to King Lalibela who constructed them in the 12th century as a 'New Jerusalem'. The rock-hewn churches are magical and the religous passion of Orthodox Ethiopians remains mystical. This is considered by many people the highlight of their Ehitopian travel.
