North of Morocco 2014

Tetouan was the capital of the Spanish protectorate and remains an important administrative center of the Rif area. The old walled town of Tetouan, known as the medina, is on the World Heritage List, and the Ville Nouvelle or, in this case, the Spanish new town, or “ensanche”, has wide boulevards and grand buildings that have been exquisitely restored.
