The most interesting districts of Berlin are the central ones. This include Mitte, formely in East Berlin and the city's historic core, around the boulevard Unter den Linden and on Museum Island.
Kreuzberg, to the south , an area renowned for its alternative lifestyle. Tiergarten, to the west, an sprawling green area. Further west Kurfürstendamm, the centre of former West Berlin.
And fynally Charlottenburg, at the edge of city centre where summer residence of the Prussian kings stands.
