The Royal Mansion in Roskilde is the nearest neighbour to Roskilde cathedral. In 1733 the medieval bishop's mansion was demolished and king Christian VII replaced it with the Royal Mansion. From the mansion there is a direct connection to the cathedral via Bishop Absalon's arch from around 1200 AD.
