Apartment: La Casa di Giulia-Family Apartment ***** The accomodation was amazing. It was very, very spacious. A full apartment of 135m2. 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, full kitchen, huge living room.
Location was in the center of the city. Elevator in building. Great café below the unit... Lived it. Would rate 5 stars. |
Restaurant: Verdi Ricordi **** Actually we saw that place fortuitously on our way to Parma center in a very late hour and decided to stop to have our first dinner in Italy. We had a good evening. The menu offered a big choice and the food was good.
The kitchen offers typical regional dishes. The service was friendly and we did't wait long, also the place was quite full. As the weather was nice, we were sitting on the terrace. The place is located outside the city, but has a big parking lot.
It is also suitable for a stop on a road trip, as it is near a highway exit and you don't have go to the city center.

Restaurant: La Duchessa *** One of the several restaurants with outdoor seating in Piazza Garibaldi. This offers the better food with over thirty types of pizza and good service.
And the coffe very very very good.
Restaurant: Gallo D'Oro **** Atmospheric little trattoria on a quiet side-street very near of our apartment. Excellent filled pastas and local specialties. The ambience and the decoration was special.

In Castell D'Arquato - |
Restaurant: La Rocca da Franco ***** We had a surprisingly great late lunch when nothing else was open. Good outdoor tables in a small alley where pleasant fresh air circulated that relieved us from the immense heat of the day.
Very good dishes with a delicate presentation and superb Giovanni attention. |
In Modena - |
Restaurant: Trattoria Aldina **** Located upstairs in a utilitarian apartment block, Aldina feels like a precious secret guarded loyally by local shoppers from the adjacent market Albinelli.
The menu has homemade dishes that only an Italian nonna raised with hand-shaped pasta could do. The place is full of Italians with a minority of tourists. I loved the place, very particular and genuine! You can tell it's an historic restaurant!
Quick service and great food! Not to mention unbeatable prices! |
In Ferrara - |
Apartment: Central Ferrara Apartment *** The apartment was well located and it was easy to check-in with the instructions received. Correct installations.
They didn't tell us what to do with our car. We had a hard time finding parking, which is difficult if you don't know the city.
Restaurant: Osteria Quattro Angeli **** The local is in front of the huge Ferrara Castle, this cozy restaurant offer tasty local food in a elegant and family atmosphere. The staff is more than polite, prices are very affordable. The quality and quantity of plates are really excellent.
We tasted a platter of cured ham, chunks of parmesan and pinzini (fried dough/bread only in Emilia-Romagna region, also called torta fritta), and another plate of grilled vegetables. The desserts were also spectaculars. Definitely recommended !
Restaurant: Osteria del Guetto *** This osteria amid the winding streets of Ferrara's old Jewish guetto, leads you through a downstairs bar up to a bright upstairs dining room embellished with striking modern murals. The excelent menu offers Ferrara staples like cappellacci di zucca with
some fish plates. The plate of pasta al vongole was unforggatable. Moderate prices.
Restaurant: Hostaria Savonarola *** Friendly, efficient service and outdoor seating on an arcaded pavement with prime Castello Estense views and in front of Savonarola sculpture. Very popular with Ferraresi for lunch and dinner. The menu is classically Ferrarese, and prices are moderate.
Restaurant: Le Querche *** Place on the extreme outskirts of Ferrara, inside the CUS University Sports Center. Large and often crowded place, abundant but not sublime dishes, good pizza but nothing special, kind staff, good prices...

In Ravenna - |
Apartment: Placidus ***** The apartment was immaculate and everything was perfectly prepared. Michel took care to solve all the problems related to our car so that we could enter the city without being fined.
Very convenient to have parking on the property. The location is very accesabile. Five minutes of walking from city center and main tourist attractions in any directions. |
Restaurant: Ca' De Ven **** A surprising place. Ancient and elegant in its representation of a historic tavern that could also be medieval. Wooden columns, frescoed vaulting ceilings, display cases stuffed with bottles, books and other curiosities, great wooden tables, everything breathes of a time of travellers.
A place informal but refined. Perfect for both an aperitif and dinner. Many traditional Romagna dishes, like squacquerone cheese pudding with crunchy ham, and typical piadinas. Friendly staff and fair prices.
Restaurant: Mercato Coperto **** It is a very pleasant place. It holds a lot of shopping points to buy or consume on the market. The idea is that you can seat at one of the available tables and you can select
the menu from the different sites so that you can enjoy it at the table and be served. It has a very broad timetable which is an alternative to come outside the standard timetable in Italy and a very good aircon.
Restaurant: La Gardèla *** Nice place, with a good terrace under the Civic Tower. The attention of the waitresses is excellent, good pasta, good desserts, at an affordable price. Recommendable
Restaurant: Antica Botegga di Felice **** Delightful tavern-shop with just the right number of tables in a perfect setting for a relaxed dinner. Furnishings and cuisine are an excellent mix of tradition and comfort.
Typical dishes, with cured meats, cheeses, cappelletti and delicious pork cheeks. A very relaxed experience.

Apartment: Residenza Ariosto by Studio Vita **** Beautiful clean apartment with every amenity we could need. Fairly quiet area. Good sized bathroom, shower worked well. Good aircon.
Very good located near Piazza Maggiore. Extremely hospitable and friendly staff. |
Restaurant: Buca San Petronio *** This restaurant is in a lovely location with a great outside tables. The location was memorable but sadly the food wasn't.
Ice Cream Shop: Cremeria La Vecchia Stalla **** Best ice-creams in Bologna. Delicious gelato, can't go wrong with any of the flavors. They can add chocolate in the bottom
of the cones and it's always a hit! My favourit flavour fior di latte di bufala. Highly recommend
Restaurant: Osteria Buca delle Campane ***Situated in the historic and University centre of Bologna this is a nice unpretentious little eatery. We only had secondi but they were very nice typical bolognese meals.
We ate outside under a portico but inside there are tables and live music or maybe a disco in the afternoon.
Ice Cream Shop: Venchi *** Beautiful sweet corner, very good ice-cream, rather slow service - nothing could justify the high prices...
Restaurant: SensoVerso **Cheap place for an afternoon drink and light snack. Suitable for students but not much more.
