Dante's Tomb

Dante had been chased out of Florence by the time he arrived in Ravenna, and he was sheltered here by the Da Polenta family, then in control of the city, while he finished his Divine Comedy. He died in 1321 and was laid to rest in the adjoining chuch of San Francesco.
