Moonstones are carved in polished granite and places at the entrances to shrines to concentrate the mind of the worshipper uppon entering. Carved in concentric half-circles, they represent the spiritual journey from samsara, the endless succession of deaths and rebirds, to nirvana. Usally appears elephants, horses, lions and bulls.
