Cappadocia is Turkey's most visually striking region, especially the "moonscape" area around the towns of Ürgüp, Göreme, Uçhisar y Avanos, where erosion has formed caves, clefts, "fairy chimneys" and sensuous folds in the soft volcanic rock.
