Poland 2016

The Wawel, the hill occupied by a citadel, was the place where Poland's rulers lived and governed over five hundred years. Here stands yet the Renaissance castle and the Gothic cathedral. Even after the capital moved to Warsaw, Polish monarchs continued to be buried here and many of the nation's poets and heroes lie in its buildings making the Wawel a source of national and spiritual pride.
