Roma 2019

Colosseum, commissioned by Emperor Vespasian in AD 72, was built as blood-sports arena. It was here that gladiators met in mortal combat and condemned prisoners fought with wild beasts in front of bloodthisrty crowds. Near stands Arch of Constantine the largest of Rome's surviving triumphal arches.
