On the west side of the archway of the tower is the building inscription "Built 1897–1900 under the government of Ernst-Ludwigs Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine". Above it, the small coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Hesse is depicted as a sandstone relief. Above it is a gilded tower clock.
