Bulgaria 2015

Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria since 1879, is easy to explore on foot. A royal palace, a parliament house, and various government buildings and museums were built in the eastern part of the centre. Some medieval and Ottoman-era buildings give and idea of the city's ancient origins, and several monstrous public communist buildings add a melancholy grandeur to the downtown. The modern Bulevard Vitosha, is the main artery of Sofia, a permanently shopping bustling avenue, with little cobbled residentidal streets on each side. Outside the city centre, Sofia is dominated by Mount Vitosha which offers an easly accessible recreation area for everybody.
