Poznan is the capital of Wielkopolska and ist largest city. It is one of the most genuenely polish cities. The Old Market Square (Stary Rinek) has been the hub of life in Poznan
for several centuries. Archetypically Polish, with the most important public buildings sited in the middle, it was damaged during the last war and perfectly restored.
Lined with a mixture of facades in bright colours it is at its best in the spring and summer months, when cafés and bars full of parasols, burst out onto its cobbled central area.
