Frankfurt, nicknamed "Mainhattan" because of ist skyscrapers, is one of the main economic and cultural centres of both Germany and Europe. The headquarters of many major banks and newspapers publishers are based here, and its International Book Fair is the world's largest event of its kind. The old town is centred around Römenberg, a square surrounded by attractive half-timbered houses, with the Fountain of Justice as a focal point. |
